So for this third project, I started photographing some pieces of jewelry that my roomates and I have. I have made a light tent which I shoot from and I decided that I am going to make a catalog of "religious" pieces of jewelry, mainly necklaces.

Here are some of my photos that I was able to get this weekend, BEFORE my lamp fell on the floor and broke. I only have 4 right now but I am trying to do 10 total and perhaps give a blurb on the opposite page, not sure about what just yet.

printmaking blob

So i am currently sitting at the review office trying to entertain everyone and all i could think about is blogging.

I am thinking for this project that I am going to work on a jewelry catalog. I am going to photograph different pieces of jewelry; necklaces, earrings, bracelets and brooches. I want to make it look similiar to a tiffany & co. catalog, with semi glossy paper and getting in detail the jewels.

I might pick a nice dark purple color for the front and back page and then figure out the rest. I want to make the catalog seem taller, and perhaps delivering it in an envelop making it seem very elegant and "preppy".

blogging is life. i love it so much. blogging foreverrrrr. wahooo bloggger

So i am working in illustrator now on my type. I am going to write the quote and then stencil out the words so i can put the textures behind it.

I was thinking that the paper should be white, Im not sure of the background should be yet. Because there is so much going on in the letters, i feel that doing a background other than white would be too distracting maybe?

So far I have come up with these ideas and textures but I am missing 2- for gluttony and sloth.

for lust I am going to do red silk
pride i was thinking of taking a broken mirror and pasting all the pieces together (broken mirror because when you are proud you sometimes tent to "poke" and be all out there and mirror because of narcissism in a way....)
greed I was going to use dollar bills...
envy i was going to use green velvet (soft, comfortable, something everyone wants to be around, so they envy it...very out there, i know)
wrath i was thinking about a metal sponge- its rough and "angry"- not something you really want to be around....

so i have those five but i dont know about sloth or gluttony...
I am also thinking that i might have to mount my paper on foam core so it can support the textures behind it...

hope this is good, my sketches arent really good, but im going tomorrow to buy the fabrics and then i can upload them.

So I decided that I am definitely going to use the quote "what you feel is what you are" and I counted that there are 7 words in the sentence.
I decided that I am going to incorporate the 7 deadly sins, and find 7 different textures that fit a deadly sin and use it for a word.

As an example, I was thinking that I would use silk for the deadly sin of lust- also, lust is a characteristic of a person.

I think that if I use the right texture to convey the right sin to convey what kind of person one can be, it would work out.

I want it to be an interactive piece, letting people go up to it and touch it. I want it to be pretty big, about 40 by 50 or 60, just to give convey the message.

YAY BLOGGING
troy,
I LIED- I AM SORRY, blog blog blog, looooooove it :). term paperr = badddd. blogging = LOVE.

So I am thinking that for this project, the quote: "what you feel is what you are, what you are is beautiful" I feel that I should cut the different letters out and then get different kinds of textures and place them behind the words- i can show a sketch later!

Ah troy, blogging is amazingg!

So i decided that Jasper Johns is clearly my favorite. I learned about him in my art history class 2 years ago and his art work is just great. I love his layering of work and I love the texture he puts on flag- there is so much to it, yet so little.

I really like the textures that jasper johns uses, yet I think that they would work great for my project. I like to layer a lot when I do my work but I love to overlap things and even overlap and build up on that.
I also really enjoy the different saturated colors he uses, I loveee using colors and really saturate them. I love using dark deep colors, but the way Jasper uses them is very inspiring to me, it makes up the picutre as a whole.

blogging

I am not a fan of blogging....I personally don't think its a good way to express myself. I feel that I am an artist and I can express myself through that and my photography, and not so well through blogging.

blog blog blog blog blog. blog. blog blog blog blog. blog.

For this second project I am going to use a quote by my favorite band, the goo goo dolls. My favorite song by them, "slide" has the words: "what you feel is what you are, and what you are is beautiful".

I think I am going to incorporate those words with textures, to express the different kinds of people out there.

the end. Hope you enjoyed this blog Troy. blog blog blog.
